شكلت ثورة 17 تشرين اول منعطفا تاريخيا ستبقى تداعياته راسخة في مستقبل لبنان. تميزت هذه الثورة بلامركزية ساهمت بانتشارها على رقعة الوطن متجاوزرة الحواجز المناطقية والمذهبية والسياسية واضفت صورة مختلفة عن لبنان المنهك والمفتت والذي يعاني من ازمة اقتصادية خانقة. ثورة حظيت بدعم 93% من اللبنانيين فور انطلاقتها وتستمر في وجدان 67% منهم بعد مرور شهرين ونصف (حسب احصاءات ستات ايبسوس الاخيرة). إن التحركات الموضعية التي تستهدف بعض فروع لبعض المصارف والتركيز على بعض الوزراء الفاسدين للاحتجاج أمام منازلهم هو تعبير عن غضب الشارع المفجوع بالمصارف ودورها اولا والسياسيين الذين اوصلوا البلاد إلى الانهيار ثانيا لكن ذلك لا يحول دون الاستمرار بطرح القضايا السياسية الاساسية والأشمل، وبشكل خاص حول طبيعة النظام السياسي القائم على الطائفية والذي يعزز المحاصصة ويحمي الفساد، وعلى ضرورة استكمال قوانين استقلالية القضاء ومكافحة الفساد واعادة بناء السلطة من خلال انتخابات مبكرة وفق قانون انتخابي جديد. كما أن الإستمرار بتجاهل مخاطر الدولة الأمنية والإقتصادية الموازية التي تدعم حزب الله بالإضافة إلى الثقافة ا...

Beirut Port Explosion is a Result and not a Cause

  The explosion on the 4th of August was heard in Cyprus and felt in Jordan, where it registered an earthquake of 4.4 magnitude. It was considered the third strongest explosion after Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It was a result of several factors, which could be seen as a precursor and a cause.   First was the stifling economic crisis that began in the summer of 2016, but worsened in the summer of 2019.  Lebanon began to suffer from a deficit in the budget, the treasury, and the balance of payments. Speculations on currency prices returned for the first time since 1993. The situation required radical reforms to stop waste and adopt measures to control public spending and boost imports, in addition to obtaining financing from abroad in the form of investments, grants, loans, or foreign transfers. Lebanon in the Eye of the Storm

The Lebanese crisis has become more linked and even dependent on the regional impasse, especially following Hezbollah's entanglement in the Syrian war and around the region from Iraq to Yemen. The region has been witnessing major geopolitical transformations, which could change the map of influence drawn by the US after the Second World War and set after the Cold War. US influence and interests are starting to face a challenge from Russia and China, who joined the equation alongside Iran and its Syrian ally. Russia's establishment of military bases on the Syrian Mediterranean coast and China's attempt to access warm waters through Lebanon attests to that, not to mention the continuous Israeli occupation and its government's policies, as well as Turkey's novel role.
